Meet Dr. Zhang-Nunes

Sandy X. Zhang-Nunes, MD was the director of Oculofacial Plastic Surgery at the USC Roski Eye Institute for 11+ years and an Associate Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology. She earned her undergraduate degrees at MIT and her medical degree at Johns Hopkins University. She then completed her ophthalmology residency at UCLA as well as a prestigious two-year ASOPRS fellowship in Columbus, OH. She enjoys functional and aesthetic oculoplastic surgery, such as orbital decompressions, endoscopic forehead lifting, as well as laser and light therapy, neuromodulators, and facial volumization treatments. She is the founder of The Cutting Edge: Oculofacial Plastic Surgery Surgical Skills Course, and is known for her research in dissolution of the various fillers to improve the safety of aesthetic treatments, as well as periocular laser and light treatments for ocular rosacea and dry eye. She also researches the applications of other technologies such as ultrasound as well as surgical outcomes and racial factors.

She currently practices at Kaiser Permanente at Sunset to provide optimal oculofacial care for Kaiser members in Los Angeles, and continues to treat both functional and cosmetic concerns, including by self-pay for non-Kaiser patients. She continues to teach and do research with USC Keck School of Medicine as well as Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine.
